Marcello D’Amelio, Ph.D., is Full Professor of Neurophysiology at the Department of Medicine and Surgery at University Campus Bio-Medico, Rome, Italy. He earned his M.Sc.in Human Clinical Trial at Dept. Experimental Medicine, University “La Sapienza” Rome and his Ph.D. in Neuroscience at Dept. of Neurology of Tor Vergata University, Rome. He continued his training at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and at the European Center for Brain Research/Santa Lucia Foundation IRCCS, Rome, Italy. Dr. D’Amelio heads the Molecular Neuroscience Laboratory at University Campus Bio-Medico and at Santa Lucia Foundation with research interests including cellular and molecular mechanisms that underlie long-lasting changes of synaptic function in both normal, healthy brains and in the brains of those affected by neurological disorders, in particular Alzheimer's disease. Dr. D’Amelio is Associate Editor for Translational Research in Dementia, Scientific Reports (Neuroscience section) and he has served as a reviewer for numerous international journals and grant agencies.
